An applicable extruder for any demanding task....

The PLAMEX Standard series PS1-T7H to PS7-T/H provides a wide range of horizontal single- screw extruders selectable for the processor's most demanding applications. Both high-boy and low-boy centerline versions are available with screw sizes from 30 mm to 150 mm diameter. Drive configurations are provided up 319 kW as required to enable plasticizing rates ranging to over 1000 kg/h.

The range of screw dimensions of this series enables a wide spectrum of output and torques for all screw diameters.

PLAMEX can assist the processor to select the optimum extrusion system for each desired output parameter with respect to the end product and resin requirements.

State of art design and and unobstructed structures...

The PLAMEX system provides for modular assembly and unobstructed structures that fulfil all the desires for modern, state-of-art functional equipment to achieve the highest level of efficiency and ease of service for the processor.
  • The basic frame structure defines the high-boy or low-boy configuration.
  • The drives are selectable from either DC-motors or frequency controlled AC-motors that are matched to the customer's power supply available.
  • The gear box and thrust bearing assembly is a combined unit. Helical gearing with hardened and ground gears are matched with overrated bearings to guarantee smooth operation and an extended lifetime.
  • The plastification unit consists of barrel and screw.

Depending on the application, the barrels are integrated in a standard design, with specially grooved and water-cooled feed section, with or without vacuum venting systems.

Up to 7 heating and cooling zones are available in different configurations for the selection of various means of process management. The barrels are nitrided or fitted with liners of special stellites to resist corrosion and/or abrasion. If required, the feed inlets may be fitted with hard metal alloy liner bushings.

Optimum screw selections available...

The screw types available range from conventional 3-zone configurations to multi-zone, short compression and venting designs with integrated and exchangeable mixing and shear elements.

Special PLAMEX barrier type screws can be selected to provide extremely high melting and homogenization rates. Screws are nitrided, through-hardened or armoured with special stellite alloys on the flights by a plasma coating process. If required, the surface can betreated and coated to prevent corrosion and for the minimizing friction and abrasion.

Austenitic steels are used for processing of chemically aggressive materials, pharmaceuticals and food applications.

Extruder barrel ends may be fitted with screwed end flanges or quick acting gate clamps to enable simple quick changing of dies with minimum effort.

An extensive range of optional accessoires are available to tailor-fit the extruder to meet any specific application.

Digital control systems...

PLAMEX extruders are equipped with digital control circuitry which provides the ultimate functional process control to ensure the optimum high degree of performance, precision tolerance and repeatability demanded by the most dicerning processor today.

The position of control panels and process indicators are custom-tailored to suit the customer's requirements.

On request, PLAMEX can provide extruder controls linked by PCs to enable the most critical performance and recordable management documentation for demanding applications and standard compliance.
